The Make A Zine Competition!

Make an Alternative Guide to Personal Tutoring, for students, by students, with a chance to win a £50 Amazon voucher for each member of your team AND a publishing opportunity!

The Raising Awareness, Raising Aspiration project is looking at why attainment gaps exist in higher education, particularly among students from BME groups and lower-socio economic backgrounds and what can be done to remedy them. University of Sheffield is the lead university, with King’s College London and University of Portsmouth as our project partners.

We think that by raising awareness of and enhancing personal tutoring provision, this project could contribute to closing the gap. Our findings will be scaled up to a national level and used to inform practice across the whole of Higher Education.

By choosing to enter the competition, participants will be contributing to the wider research project.

Enter the competition!

To enter the competition, you need to make an alternative guide to personal tutoring, in the form of a zine. A zine is a small, self-published D.I.Y magazine. The zine you make can be as creative (or not) as you like, just remember that it is an alternative guide!

Resources from the Make A Zine workshops and questions to help guide your ideas are available to download from the Research section of the website:

To make your zine, all you need is one piece of paper, it is really easy. Download the guide below which shows you exactly how to make a 1-page zine in a few easy steps…

All zines entered into the competition will be shortlisted by a panel of judges. The shortlisted zines will then be showcased at a zine fair on 21st May, 12:00 – 15:00, where people will be able to come and vote on their favourite.

The winning zine will be published across the whole university, not to mention the authors each winning a £50 Amazon voucher!
